Juan
Luis Vives
The
choice of the name VIVES originates from the Spanish humanist,
Juan Luis Vives (1492-1540), who taught at the Université
catholique de Louvain beginning of the 16th century. He was a
visionary teacher, especially for establishing scientific methods,
spreading ideas and building a European concept.
A
fervent Pro-European, he was born in Valencia, studied and taught
in Paris and Oxford, ending his life in Brugges. As a humanist
and friend of Erasme, Vives spread his ideas and those from his
contemporaries by leveraging on the great discovery of his time:
printing. |

The
development of this modern technique, in the same way as internet
today, had great impact on world business and led to the development
of multiple printing works and correlated activities, locating
themselves next to main universities.
It
is a logical step to associate the name of Juan Luis Vives to
the venture capital fund VIVES, whose goal is precisely to support
young technological companies. |
